The Art of Capturing an Author’s Soul

One of the most rewarding things that in my point of view a translator can work on; is in translating an author’s book. I believe that you not only learn about author’s literary piece but also you have the opportunity to absorb and learn about their soul. You are able to go into the world that they have created in their piece. Which that by itself is an amazing thing to experience.

To me is an honor to be the chance to translate a literary piece. But with the honor comes the responsibility to the author and his or her readers to capture almost to a perfection what the author’s piece is all about. Because I truly think that when an author writes is letting himself or herself be vulnerable by showing his or her work to the world. Which I think every translator has to take into account. And treat the client’s piece as if it were his or her own.
